Abruzzo Tourism - Tourist Attractions
Whenever people talk about the most craved tourist destinations around the world, one of the most common names which we hear from people is Italy. It's one of the most talked places which people want to visit once in their lifetime. It's a place which is not only famous among the upper strata of the people, but also amongst people from all the ranges of society want to come here and feel it's presence in them for once a lifetime experience.
When we talked about going places in Italy, one of the most famous places among the tourists is the Abruzzo state. The Abruzzo state, also known as Abruzzi is located in between central coast and central Apennines. It is divided into 4 major sub parts known as Chieti, L'Aquila, Pescara and Teramo. L'Aquila is the largest in area among the four and also the regional capital of Abruzzo. The total area of Abruzzo is around 10,794 square km with a total population of 1.3 million.
The Abruzzo is only 58 miles away from Rome in the east. As its very near to the Rome there is a wide impact of Roman architecture on the monuments and structures of cities in the Abruzzo.

In L'Aquila there are many historic monuments present which adds to the beauty of Abruzzo. Fontana delle 99 Cannelle is one of the most visited place by tourists, known for a fountain with 99 spouts, one for the each villages that are the part of the foundation of the city.
Another monument famous in L'Aquila is Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio. It's main attractions are its Holy Door and Gothic interior which makes it much better then one of its kinds. It is made of white and pink marble which is mostly welcome by lovely couples. S.Maria Paganica and S. Maria del Soccorso are the other two churches which are famous among the tourists in L'Aquila. La Rocca di calascio, the highest fortress in the Abruzzo. This fortress not only attracts the visitors and filmmakers but also a great buzz among the top architectures astounding features.
On the other hand, Pescara is famous for its 6.5 mile long wide sandy beaches with seaside promenade. Pescara pinewood Montesilvano is one of the most famous beach resorts among the world with much of a tourist attraction.
In Sulmona, church of San Francesco delle Scarpe which was made in 13th century and cathedral of San Panfilo of 11th century are the real tourist hives. This town is also famous for its confetti, commonly known as sugared almonds.
The Apennines mountain range is one of the well known mountain ranges of world covering around 1400 km. It's one of the most favorite of the mountain climbers and specially skiing. Its skiing resorts are one of the most popular one among the world. There are around 15 skiing resorts present in the region of Apennines which adds to its tourist scenario. The Apennines's has the highest peak of the region named as Monte Corno which is 9650 feet high.
